Germrotthaus Moka

1986 - 1994

Moka is a Boxer that we rescued from an almost certain death.

We were searching for a Boxer to share our lives.
We had done our homework and contacted the local Boxer breeders, but our choice was not definitive.
We were leaning toward a show prospect male, even if at the time,
showing was not something we were really interested in,
but the breeder was ready to do the showing herself.

We went to a local pet shop, to get toys and other accessories for our future puppy.
As we were going around the store we noticed two four month old puppy Boxers, a male and a female.
They were from a local breeder, not a puppy mill.
Even if they were brother and sister, there was an enormous difference between them.
The male was close to 30 pounds while the female was not even 10 pounds.
We left the store but could not forget that little fawn bundle of joy.
Having been raised with Boxer puppies, we decided to give her a chance to live
and went back to get her the next day.
We named her Moka.
She was so sweet that she deserved that someone with experience took care of her.
It took us over 5 months to put her back in shape, completely disease free.
She grew to reach the standard height and a weight of 59 pounds.

One the favorite game of Moka was to play "peek-a-boo" with the kids.
Moka was a plain fawn Boxer, with natural ears. She was far from the look of the show prospect puppy we were interested in,
but she had a heart of gold as any well-bred Boxer and that was what mattered the most to us.

“Heaven goes by favor.
If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in.”
