Unfortunately, Piper never had a chance to grow old.

Right from the beginning Piper had a rough start
when she suffered from hypothermia as she was delivered by C-Section.
This is where she lost half of her left ear.

Like if that was not enough, a few months later, she broke her jaw
as she got stuck in a crate.
We thought that she would heal  properly,
but that would have been asking too much.

She was not even 2 years old when we had to take the very painful decision
to give her peace by ending her suffering.
There was nothing else that could be done for her.

She did not spend much time with us,
but she spent enough time to show us what a good girl she was
and to print her name on our heart.

A Puppy's Lament

I wasn't meant to be here long,
My body was weak even though your love was strong
God sent me here on a special job to do,
It wasn't to leave you sad and blue
He sent me here to bring good will,
To warm you heart from the winters chill

In my short life I knew only love,
Sent down in great measure from the heavens above
A little soul with so much to do,
A special spirit of light just for you
Life's too short to worry so,
Just remember me fondly and let me go

Your thoughts of me will bring you cheer,
Remember in your heart I'm always near
Some puppies grow to romp and play
But I returned to Heaven today
A better place there cannot be,
For a boxer puppy just like me

Here I'll shine so bright and strong,
It's enough you loved me and you did no wrong
Dry your tears I am away,
And at the Rainbow Bridge I play
There is no pain, there is no strife,
In Heaven I once again live the perfect life.
