Chilly's Pedigree

We can say that Chilly has been our PR agent in the show ring, being the first dog that we showed in Canada and finishing her Canadian championship at 8 months old, on her second weekend in the ring.

We will never forget that freezing
winter day in Niagara Falls, N.Y.,
when Chilly warmed up our hearts
by finishing her American championship.
She was our first American champion.
It did not matter that we had to drive back home in one of the worst
snow storms.
Chilly promoted our presence in the ring even more as the lead dog
of our very popular brace.
Chilly loved to be shown so much that,
as a treat, we let her help a junior handler.
If she could have talked, she would have told him exactly what to do.
In her own way she did,
by restacking herself perfectly
when the position was not right.
After her retirement from the show ring, she enjoyed life at home
but was always in seventh heaven
when we entered her in the Veteran class.

In May 2000, she finished
her show career by taking Best Veteran
at the New Jersey Boxer Club Specialty.
From her first day in the ring to the last, Chilly was a winner.

On Valentine's Day 2001, the curtain did fall on the last act of Chilly's life,
forcing us to bring her to the Rainbow bridge.
As the sweetheart that she was, she could only leave us on that special day.
Our only consolation is that she will be at the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for us.

"Many who have spent a lifetime in it
can tell us less of love
than the child that lost a dog yesterday."

-- Thornton Wilder

The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It's called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arm and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again, and you look into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together,
never again to be separated...
