Shadow's Pedigree

            In 1993                                                                       In 2001

Shadow was our first home-bred champion.
She loved coming to the show grounds but hated to be in the ring.
She kept looking for us, not paying any attention to her handler
and when we showed her in the Bred-by class, she was so happy to be there with us
that she thought that the name of the game was "Who can get to the judge first, you or me ?"

However, one weekend, she surprised us all by stacking and gaiting like an old pro,
and by finishing her championship in four shows in a row,
from the Bred-by-exhibitor class.

Shadow had a very strong maternal instinct. She raised two litters of her own,
and saved a litter of six puppies, from another boxer breeder
who lost their mother at whelping.
She adopted them and nursed them from birth to four weeks old,
simultaneously with her four older puppies.

Even at eleven year old, the nickname « Bullet »  that we gave her as a puppy still applied to her.
She could still zoom in the house at the speed of a bullet, her cat feet barely touching the ground,
do a 360 degree turn or even a double or a triple, in a fraction of a second, leaving us dizzy
while she was ready to start it all over again.

She passed away on the eve of her twelve birthday,
peacefully, one evening,  in the bedroom where she used to share our bed.

Old dogs, like old shoes, are comfortable.
They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges,
but they fit well."
